Fondesan is an Indian multidisciplinary design and experience studio based in Delhi, India, founded in 2011 by designer and social entrepreneur Kshitiz Anand. The studio specializes in product design, user experience design (UX), customer experience (CX), and brand experience, offering research-driven solutions to create impactful products and services. Fondesan is also known for its Fondesan Academy, which conducts workshops on design thinking, innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship across various industries.

History

Fondesan was established in 2011 by Kshitiz Anand, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Indiana University Bloomington, with a vision to integrate design thinking and user-centered design into business and social impact initiatives.[1] The studio emerged from Anand’s work in human-computer interaction and his passion for using design to solve complex problems. Initially focused on user experience design, Fondesan expanded to include customer experience, brand strategy, and strategic consulting for organizations across sectors like EdTech, healthcare, and financial technology.[2]

Services

Fondesan provides a range of services, including:

  • Product Experience Design: Creating user-centric digital and physical products, with a focus on usability and accessibility.[3]
  • Customer Experience Design: Developing strategies to enhance customer interactions and satisfaction across touchpoints.
  • Brand Experience Design: Crafting cohesive brand identities that align with organizational goals and user expectations.
  • Design Thinking Workshops: Through Fondesan Academy, the studio conducts workshops to train professionals in design thinking, innovation, and leadership.[4]

The studio has worked with clients in India, United States, and Europe, collaborating with organizations such as Paytm, Teach For India, and Pratham Books.[5]

Fondesan Academy

Fondesan Academy is an initiative launched in 2015 to promote design thinking and innovation through workshops and training programs.[6] The academy has conducted over 30 workshops for professionals in industries such as technology, education, and healthcare, focusing on methodologies like empathy mapping, prototyping, and iterative design.[7] These workshops emphasize practical applications of design thinking to foster innovation and problem-solving.

Design Thinking Contributions

Fondesan, under Anand’s leadership, has developed and promoted several design thinking methodologies tailored to the Indian context. The studio’s proprietary “Impact-Driven Design Framework” integrates empathy mapping, co-design, and rapid prototyping to address challenges in education, healthcare, and financial inclusion.[8] This framework emphasizes stakeholder collaboration and iterative testing to create scalable solutions. Fondesan has also advocated for the use of journey mapping to enhance customer experience in EdTech and telemedicine applications, notably in its work with rural communities.[9]

Social Impact

Fondesan collaborates with Happy Horizons Trust, a non-profit founded by Anand, to apply design thinking to social challenges in rural Bihar. The studio has designed educational tools and digital platforms for the trust’s initiatives, such as the READY program for girls’ empowerment and digital literacy.[10] Additionally, Fondesan has supported the development of telemedicine interfaces for Happy Horizons Healthcare, improving healthcare access in underserved areas.[11]

Recognition

Fondesan has been recognized for its contributions to design thinking and user experience design in India. The studio was featured in Business Today as a leader in innovative design practices in 2016.[12] In 2020, Anand was invited to speak at the Ajeenkya DY Patil University’s Disrupted II event, where he discussed Fondesan’s role in shaping post-COVID design strategies.[13]
